Why is my chuck not holding on the tapping machine?
Situation/ initial situation:
During tapping, the tapping chuck rotates on the output shaft.
Cause:
The cone of the tapping chuck is not properly seated on the output shaft. There is no friction-locked connection.
Solution:
To create a force-fit connection, the conical output shaft of the machine and the cone of the chuck must be cleaned and free of grease. The chuck must then be heated to approx. 70-80° Celsius using a hot plate or a hot air gun (caution: risk of burns!). Place the heated, undamaged lining on the undamaged cone of the machine and fix the lining in place with a light axial blow using a plastic hammer.
Only use the machine after the chuck has cooled down (room temperature).
