36% FASTER

When tapping M12 with the QuickIN THREAD TAPING KIT. Fast tapping thanks to integrated reversing gear for automatic change of direction of rotation. The fast reverse in anti-clockwise rotation enables shorter cycle times. The tap is positively clamped to its square by a collet, which prevents it from slipping during operation. Compatible with all FEIN cordless screwdrivers with QuickIN interface.

Preparation

  1. Tool selection: Use high-quality taps that are suitable for the material in question. HSS taps are ideal for steel, copper and aluminium.
  2. Coolant: We recommend the use of cutting oil or a special thread cutting oil to minimise friction and heat development.

Settings of the drill driver

  1. Drilling: Ensure that the control panel is in drilling mode, thereby deactivating the torque cut-off.
  2. Gear selection: For tapping up to M8 use gear 2 and tapping from M10 use gear 1. This allows precise control of the speed.

Tapping technology

  1. Pre-drilling: Drill a core hole with the appropriate diameter for the desired thread. Make sure to use the correct size according to the thread table.
  2. Countersinking: Countersink the pre-drilled core hole with a countersink of the appropriate size and depth. This helps to position and centre the tap correctly and straight for optimum results.
  3. Positioning: Position the tap vertically and straight on the pre-drilled hole. If necessary, use a tapping aid or a guide.
  4. Plunge: Start at low speed and even pressure. Let the tap do the work and avoid excessive force.
  5. Reverse gear: Pull the drill driver back slightly to activate the integrated reversing gear for automatic change of direction of rotation. The fast reverse in anti-clockwise rotation enables shorter cycle times.
  6. Cooling: We recommend the use of regular cutting oil to reduce friction and extend the service life of the tool.

Safety

  1. Safety goggles: Always wear suitable safety goggles to protect your eyes from chips and pieces of metal.
  2. Changing the insert tool: Protect yourself from cuts when changing the drill bit.
  3. Firm clamping: Ensure that the workpiece is securely fixed to prevent it from slipping.
  4. Handle: If required, use the extendable handle for safe and ergonomic working.

Reworking

  1. Cleaning: After tapping, remove the chips and clean the taps.
