Magnetic base drilling expertise from the inventor of the drilling machine
In 1895, FEIN invented the world's first electric hand drill, and in 1909, the first electromagnetic drill GMAZ. This sense of innovation, quality products and designs "Made in Germany" is inherent to every FEIN drilling machine. With over 120 years of expertise, FEIN has continuously developed metal drilling technology and perfected it to this day. Professionals justifiably place their trust in FEIN's long-lasting quality. With exceptional drills for metal that stand the test of time and offer unrivalled performance, choose FEIN.
How does core drilling work?
Core drilling is a drilling process in which only the circumference of the hole is drilled, leaving a core in the centre. Core drills are rotating cylinders that are equipped with carbide cutting edges.
Especially for hard materials and large diameters, magnetic base drills offer several advantages over conventional drilling methods, as the core remains inside the drill bit and thus does not have to be removed. This way, the drilling tool is protected, and a faster advance can also be expected when drilling into metallic materials, e.g., steel beams. Magnetic drills are often used for this purpose: they adhere to the steel via an electromagnet in the baseplate so that you do not have to support the heavy core drill using only your physical strength.

What advantages do FEIN magnetic base drills offer?
More precise, more economical, and faster than ever before: FEIN core drills deliver the best drilling results in the shortest time. The compact, powerful, and universal FEIN core drills reduce the effort to a minimum, so neither pre-drilling nor retooling is necessary while at the same time ensuring high work progress. The feed force is also significantly reduced because FEIN magnetic base drills work with a smaller cutting surface.
And that saves time, energy, and costs.
Efficiency means achieving a lot with a little – and that describes FEIN core drills perfectly. In contrast to conventional twist drilling, core drilling does not cut the entire drill surface but only a narrow ring. This means that the hole can be drilled with significantly less feed force and effort – and in a much shorter time. A single work step is sufficient to perform core drilling in metal. This makes core drilling a particularly economical drilling method.
- Different performance classes for every application.
- Greatest possible variety of applications and flexibility.
- Maximum service life and reliability.
- First-class materials and excellent workmanship.
